How long did it take?

how long does it take for people creating cartoons to make a whole saga/episode.Cartoons (animations) like Dragon Ball Z must take forever to make.All that drawing and frame by frame.Am i right? or do they do it some other way?

Im not exactly sure but i think they make seperate back grounds for different scenese and incres/ decrease theyre size.

Then they draw the people or w/e and finsh them on the comp and put it together like frame by frame.
